The inferno in Hong Kong has already claimed 14 lives and dozens more were injured.

The fire broke out on Wednesday afternoon in the Wang Fuk Court complex in the Tai Po district of northern Hong Kong and its severity level has been raised to the maximum level of five, according to the BBC.

The complex has 4,600 residents in almost 2,000 apartments in eight 31-storey apartment blocks. They were under renovation and surrounded by bamboo scaffolding when the fire broke out.
At least 14 people have died, according to firefighters, and others are injured in hospital, some in critical condition. Among the dead is a firefighter.
